Safari jeep driving through the plains of kenya with wildebeest in sight

Explore a slice of Africa with luxury Kenya safaris. Surrounded by the Maasai tribe, you can enjoy a daily game drive, guided walks, and other wildlife excursions. Some of these high-end safaris in Kenya are the epitome of wild luxury. The Tsavo National Park is one of the most upscale and opulent safari camps in Kenya.

The Chyule Hills National Park gives its visitors an unbelievable view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Simultaneously, the park offers great views of the resident hippos in the freshwater springs.

Kenya’s coastline is just as stunning as the wild veld. With white sand and turquoise ocean, Lamu is one of Kenya’s very own havens of tranquillity. The Great Rift Valley passes through Kenya and the lakes provide a relaxing change to your lux safari adventure.

Kenya’s most luxurious safari camps are remote and serene, so you won’t have to worry about overcrowding. You can truly go off the grid and appreciate the quiet. Anyone who is set to visit the luxury safaris in Kenya will have an unsurpassed wildlife experience.

Kenya Safari Prices 2024

The cost of one of these luxury Kenya safari packages can range from about $130 USD (R2000) to around $600 (R9000). The major differences include hotel pickups for safari drives and extras on certain tours like snacks or alcoholic beverages.

Take a look at these packages to compare prices across the ticket providers below:

Times

The different times allocated for most luxury safari Kenyan tours depend on the package you book. However, traveller pickups can be offered for full-day trips from your accommodation to the safari. These types of arrangements for pickup tend to get started a little earlier than the half-day trips.

Best Time to Go on Safari

The ideal time to experience the best safaris in Kenya is during the dry season (late June to October). This season is optimal for viewing wildlife. The majestic wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara camp in August and remains until October. But don’t be discouraged if you’re unable to witness this. Wildlife viewing is spectacular all year round.

This full-day private guided tour from the city of Nairobi starts at 06h30. But, witnessing the views of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru is worth the early rise. This 3-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park in a private vehicle will give you time to explore the park, go wildlife spotting on morning and afternoon game drives. Try spotting some exotic birds and yawning hippos in Lake Nakuru.

My guide was excellent he really put all out there to make us have a great experience! Without a doubt recommend it! Its worth the travel. The feeedom of biking and seeing the Animals up closes plus the natural landscape was increíble The vehicle was a bit old and not much luxury but I guess is part of the experience.

Great tour, would really recommend for those looking for a good day trip! Local guide in Hells Gate was excellent, and went out of his way to make sure I had a good time. Lake Naivasha is gorgeous, but the boat tour was somewhat robotic and touristy as an alternative, would highly recommend walking through the Crescent Island game sanctuary where you can often see the hippos and other wildlife at your own pace.

Really very fun! Beautiful park and lake. Guides were all very well informed. Places for lunch were a bit overpriced but not very much choice in that I suppose. We were a little bit rushed at the end, but overall an excellent experience.

We had a wonderful day trip from Nairobi to Hell's Gate and the Lake Naivasha area the first week of March. The driver/guide Sammy picked us up on time and was very good. We are a family of 4 with two teenage kids. All of us loved the trip–it was one of the best things we did in Kenya. We had panoramic views of the Rift Valley, then drove through it, and then the park and lake are interesting and beautiful. Sammy made sure we met our Maasai guide in the park. That guide was also great and had gotten bikes for us. We saw lots of animals–and being on bikes makes it for us a more rewarding and very different experience than being in the van/truck. All of us loved the hike in the canyon–our kids really felt is was an adventure. It has the right combination of beautiful natural features and interesting volcanic/geologic information and having the guide with you makes it really stress free. Afterward we went to a super relaxing but good quality restaurant with large terrace with lake views that was perfect after the hike. I would recommend without qualifications Sammy and Perfect Wilderness Safaris.

Amazing day cycling to the gorge. Animals grazing beside the road as you cycle & eagles soaring above. The gorge was stunning but quite a tough trek. Make sure to take water to drink. My guide Peter Ravin was very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this.

Only had 1 full day in Nairobi and this was a perfect day tour to get out and see Kenya and the beautiful nature/wildlife it has to offer. – Picked up by van at 7am from our hotel – Approx. 2 hour drive from Nairobi to Hell's Gate, with a stop halfway at a beautiful overlook of the Rift Valley, with a gift shop where you can buy local art/trinkets/etc if you want. The long drive is a great experience because you get to see many sights and towns of Kenya. – Bike ride is awesome, about 5 miles through the park to the entrance of the gorge, easy riding mostly flat. Helmets were not provided but the trail is not dangerous. Saw warthogs, zebras, dung beetles, giraffes, monkeys, impalas, gazelles, buffalo, birds. Scenery is beautiful. Then 5 mile ride back to the van. – As of Nov 16 2019, the gorge remains closed due to flash flooding that occurred on Sep 2 2019. Park ranger said they plan to re-open the gorge after the rainy season. – After bike ride, you have the option to either drive back to Nairobi, or go to Lake Naivasha and do a boat tour. The boat tour is $25 per person and for an additional $30 per person (both are cash only) you can do a walking tour with a local guide of Crescent Island Game Park where there are more wild animals. While expensive, we really enjoyed both and would recommend that the $55 per person is very much worth it. – Departed Lake Naivasha at 4pm and returned to Nairobi just after 6pm – Everything is at your own pace – Last but not least, Albert was a great tour guide and very friendly. Thank you Albert! -Tips: bring water or buy some before the bike ride, and bring sunscreen! Bugs didn't seem to be a big issue but use bug repellent just in case. Bring snacks as food is not included in the tour.

This was our first day in Kenya and our guide arrived bright and early to drive us through the Great Rift Valley down to Lake Nakuru. The Great Rift Valley was breathtaking with spectacular views. Lake Nakuru was lush and as we drove through we saw pockets of different animals such as giraffes, zebras, Cape buffalo and even a rhino and her baby. We were also lucky enough to see some flamingoes! We went onto Lake Naivasha for a boat ride, gliding past sleeping hippos and curious cranes. The birdlife here was fantastic. Our guide was great, informed on the wildlife and interesting company on both the Kenyan safari experience as well as general Kenyan life.

The tour I signed up for was a solo tour with Peter. Peter was friendly and informative, and he was also an expert driver and guide. He answered all of my questions about Kenya, which included not only about animals but also about culture, language, music and so on. On the exciting game drive at Lake Nakuru, we had a chance to see many amazing animals such as zebras, impalas, gazelles, giraffes, lion & lioness, baboons, warthog, turtle, buffalos, waterbucks, kori bastard, flamingos, secretary bird, and rhinos. We were able to be close enough to take photos of a lion when it was yawning. Despite reports indicating otherwise, we saw plenty of flamingoes, pelicans, and many other birds. In the afternoon, we joined an 1-hour boat ride at Lake Naivasha. We saw hippos, fish eagles, and more species of animals. We enjoyed fresh fish fritter for lunch by the lake. Overall it was a fantastic day trip and a cool experience to see wild animals just being themselves. I truly enjoyed a perfect wilderness tour, and I highly recommend it. Nack Purchase, NY

The trip to Lake Nakuru National Park and Lake Naivasha was terrific. Paul was a great tour guide and made sure the tour was focusing on seeing things of interest to me. He was great at spotting animals and birds, he really knew the timing of what to do and when so that I was able to have a relaxing trip. We left quite early in the morning in order to see the early animals and it made a better more relaxed day. I would recommend going on this tour.
