Thundering down the dramatic gorges of the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls transforms the still river into a creation of movement. Stretching over 5,600 feet and plummeting 550,000 cubic meters, the falls are praised as being one of the most spectacular sights in the world.

And with such a marvelous creation comes great adventure! Embark on a number of different activities that are all catered to show off the Victoria Falls. While most enjoy cruises surrounded by a wildlife paradise, there are plenty of ways to gaze upon the falls.

Get wet and wild and journey along the waters on a river raft, or experience an unforgettable helicopter flight. If you’re brave enough, sit along the edge of the fall. Either way, there are many fantastic ways to enjoy Victoria Falls.

We list a variety of tour options making it an amazing experience for romantics, adrenaline junkies, and families alike.

Highlights:

  • Unrivalled views of Victoria Falls
  • Brilliant opportunities for photography and filming
  • Enjoy an array of wildlife sightings

Know before you book:

  • Prepare to get a little wet
  • It can get crowded during peak season
  • Pack comfortable shoes and lots of sunblock

Both Zambia and Zimbabwe are home to the Victoria Falls. The Zimbabwean side displays iconic views of the falls, whose waters flow throughout the year. The country is also a well-known tourist town, so expect to find many bars, restaurants, and safari styled backpackers.

But if you’re wanting to get really close to the falls, start the journey from Zambia. Adventurers can enjoy swimming in the Devil’s Pool, and exploring the pools of water in many of the gorges. Although it offers a completely different perspective of the falls, travelers really get a grasp on how incredibly massive the falls actually are.

One can also opt for a walk along the impressive Victoria Falls Bridge, which falls in both Zimbabwe and Zambia. A chance to experience the best of both worlds. A multi-entry visa can easily be purchased at border control, giving you the freedom to hop between the two countries.

Victoria Falls in July Tour Prices 2020

The cost of a Victoria Falls adventure tour starts at about $44 USD (R800) to $165 USD (R3000), depending on the length of the tour, what’s included, and whether the tour is catered privately or to groups.

Compare the prices across the tours and ticket providers below:

Tour Times

Tours across the Victoria Falls run throughout the week, as well as on public holidays and through the holiday seasons.

Many cruises chase the sunset, providing travelers with the amazing opportunity to witness the spectacular colors of the sun setting.

Best Time for Visiting Victoria Falls

The mild winters and warm summers make Victoria a great holiday destination all year round and activities run throughout the year.

But the absolute best time to go to Victoria Falls would have to be from March through to August, given that it’s largely dependent on rainfall. The fuller the river, the more powerful the fall is.

July offers breathtaking viewings – Victoria Falls is one of the few places in the world to witness the natural phenomena of lunar rainbows.

Victoria Falls Weather

This natural wonder needs the rain to flourish, with heavy waters leaving you awe-inspired!

These are the seasons in Zambia and Zimbabwe:

  • Spring (September to October): Hot and dry
  • Summer (November to April): Hot and Rainy
  • Autumn/Fall (May to June): Warm and dry
  • Winter (July to August): Warm and dry

October to November provides the least favorable time to visit Victoria Falls, as Zambia is extremely hot and very dried out. But that also makes it a favorable time for spotting wildlife, due to the grass being thin and animals more easily identified.

Victoria Falls in July Tours

Both Zimbabwe and Zambia have a well-established tourism industry, with incredible tours and activities specifically tailored to witnessing the Victoria Falls.

Given that there are numerous ways to see the falls, there are a wide variety of activities to choose from. You won’t have a problem finding a tour that suits your needs and sense of adventure.

Private Guided Tour of the Falls

There’s simply no better way to see the falls by partaking in a private tour. Stand at the edge of the falls as you learn about the history and surrounding wildlife, while you’re led around by a friendly local guide.

This tour is perfect for anyone looking to gain a great understanding and appreciation of the spectacle. Take time to enjoy the numerous vantage points of the water as you make your way through the wildlife. Feel the cool spray of the fall as you get up close and personal with the biggest waterfall in the world.

What we liked: It’s a chance to gain a deeper understanding of Vic Falls.

I booked a dinner river cruise on Zambezi river on 27DEC19 at 1700/ It was agreed with the tour operator that they would pick us up (3 adults) at 1610 at Zim Border. we were there at 16 and waited until 1620 under the sun, with no shade. One of us was lady and she got dizzy after being in the heat for so long. Local taxi drivers advised us to wait and they would show us the car of the tour operator when the bus comes. But no bus was in sight, no one picked us up. So after waiting in the heat we decided to take a taxi to the cruise port and paid 15 USD. I consider the service was not rendered in full and want to claim back taxi costs and a proportionate refund for the unfulfilled transfer from Zim border to the cruise port.

We had a lovely evening. The 4 course dinner was very good. The barman makes a mean mojito. We saw plenty of hippos – in and out of the water – and a croc on the bank. It was too cloudy to see the sunset but a very nice evening.

This dinner cruise is well worth the money as the staff is friendly, the views are fantastic and the meal is extremely good. The choice of beverages is excellent, with good quality spirits, beers and wine available and included in the price. The meals are extremely good with a choice of fish or beef and arrive piping hot from the kitchen. The staff is extremely friendly and informative. The cruise last for approximately 3 hours and provides sunset pictures that you will remember for a lifetime. We highly recommend this tour, great value for money.

This is a one-of-a-kind life experience, not for the faint of heart. But if you can swim, it is safer than it looks. The guides are very friendly and try hard to make you feel safe.
